Abstract

Swing circle is the excavator's undercarriage parts which function to support the upperstructure and continue the rotation of the swing machinery through the pinion shaft so as to produce a swing motion in the excavator. The purpose of this research is to determine the types of damage that occur in the excavator swing system and how to repair it. The procedures in this study include: research methods, flow diagrams, inspection procedures, visual inspection of the components that work on the swing system, performance during work (swing), disassembly, problem finding and assembly. The results of the analysis of the cause of damage to the swing system have a major factor, namely, the condition of contaminated grease. Other factors are also caused by operator or mechanic errors in equipment operation and poor maintenance. The corrective steps taken are replacing the swing circle components. The long preventive step is to do a daily check thoroughly before the unit operates and preventive maintenance properly and periodically.
