Abstract

Generator is one of the electric machines used in power generation systems with the working principle of converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. In operation, the generator must be in a stable condition for optimal performance. This stability can be affected by several factors including load, power factor, and so on. This research was conducted in order to determine the performance of the generator against changing loads which includes power losses and the efficiency of the generator. This study uses ten samples with a load of 80MW-100MW, it also requires generator logsheet data and generator specifications. The results of the research at PT PJB - UP Gresik are the active power at GTG 1 at 80MW-100MW load, namely 87.37MW- 99.19MW, apparent power 87.61MVA-99.52MVA. In GTG 2 at load 80MW-100MW active power The resulting output is 88.98MW-99.39MW, and an apparent power of 89.14MVA-99.57MVA. In GTG 3, the active power produced is 89.45MW-99.29MW and the apparent power is 89.61MVA-99.50MVA. The resulting losses on GTG 1 5,226MW-5,259MW, GTG 2 5,208MW-5,241MW, GTG 3 5,216MW-5,244MW. For the average efficiency value of GTG 1 is 94.47%, GTG 2 is 94.45%, GTG 3 is 94.46% and this is still optimal.
