Abstract

Textbooks are the main learning resource in schools. Textbooks not only present material, but also need to instill character education. This study aims to analyze the suitability of the contents of the geography textbook for class XI semester 1 material on flora and fauna in Indonesia; material management of Indonesia's natural resources; and material for food, industrial and national energy security on environmental care. This type of research used in this research is qualitative research with content analysis method to determine the suitability of the material to aspects of environmental care. The method of collecting data through a questionnaire using an assessment instrument of caring for the environment which consists of three indicators, namely caring for the environment, providing solutions to environmental problems, and environmental ethics. The research subjects were 3 respondents, namely lecturers, teachers, and students. The results showed that the suitability of the content to the environmental care attitude that obtained the highest percentage was the material for managing Indonesia's natural resources with a percentage of 94%. Material of food security, industry and national energy obtained a percentage of 88%. Material of flora and fauna in Indonesia and the world obtained a percentage of 73%. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the textbook already has indicators of a caring attitude towards the environment, but there is still a need to strengthen environmental care attitudes in each material to develop students' sensitivity and concern for various environmental conditions.
