Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve students' creative thinking skills and activeness in learning mathematics through the Problem Based Learning model of class VIII B SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, field notes, tests and documentation. Data analysis techniques used in this study were data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions (data verification). From the research results, it was obtained that there was an increase in indicators of creative thinking skills as follows: 1) fluency was 12 students or 35.29%, increasing to 19 students or 55.88%. 2) flexibility was 15 students or 44.11% increased to 20 students or 57.14%. 3) Originality was 9 students or 26.47% increased to 20 students or 57.14%. While the indicators of learning activeness include: 1) many students expressed their opinion that there were 7 students or 20.58% increased to 19 students or 55.88%. 2) many students listened to the presentation, there were 9 or 26.47% increasing to 25 students or 73.52%.
