Abstract

Sadranan tradition is a monthly tradition of society in Cepogo District, Boyolali Regency, exactly every month of Syaban or Ruwah in the Javanese calendar. Each dukuh and village maintains a tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation at different times. Sadranan in Cepogo District is very unique where after doing the pilgrimage to the graves of their ancestors then they will visit each other's houses or gathering. Therefore, for young generation to get understanding and knowledge of local culture such as Sadranan, cultural literacy can be used as a reference that can lead the society to build sense of maintaining and loving their culture. Research method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive technique and the data collection techniques include interview, observation, and documentation. In this research, sampling technique was used to take sample is purposive which had taken seven samples with certain considerations and criteria. Data analysis techniques in this research used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including: (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation that is focused on getting a conclusion or taking an action, (3) testing the conclusion or verification that aims to find the meaning of the data served. The results showed that there is awareness of the need for efforts to preserve the Sadranan culture must indeed be in line with cultural literacy that can strengthen national identity. However, in Cepogo, Boyolali cultural literacy of Sadranan has just explored by the local government. This is because many society do not know about Sadranan culture since there is still a lack of supporting information and literature.
