Abstract

Background:Children born with LBW have the opportunity to experience obstacles in growth and development. This situation will get worse if the LBW babies do not get adequate nutrition and good parenting, as a result babies with a history of LBW tend to have poor nutritional status. Aim: This study aims to determine the relation between education level and activeness of visits at Elderly Posyandu Program with nutritional status of the elderly in Posyandu Gatak. Method: This study was an observational analytic study with a cross sectional method involving 70 toddlers. Data obtained by direct examination and analyzed using the Chi Square method. Result: The results of this study indicate that toddlers who have a LBW history have a 3.9 times greater chance of experiencing poor nutritional status compared to children who are not LBW. Exclusive breastfeeding is less than 13 times more likely to have poor nutritional status compared to children who are exclusively breastfed. Parenting patterns of less parenting have a 10.7 greater risk of experiencing poor nutritional status compared to parenting patterns of good parenting. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between the nutritional status of children 6-24 months with a history of low birth weight (LBW) with exclusive breastfeeding and parenting. Conclusion: History of LBW, Exclusive breastfeeding and parenting related to nutritional status of children aged 6-24 months.
