Abstract

The zoning system in admitting new students makes related parties have to improve themselves. Not only parents who are confused by such situations, but students also have to make adjustments to make it easier to undergo the next learning process. This study chooses emotional maturity and social support as variables that are thought to have a significant role in the adjustment of students affected by zoning. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between emotional maturity and social support and the adjustment of students affected by the zoning system. The subjects in this study were high school students who were affected by the zoning system in Surakarta. The sample in this study were 220 students, with 110 students from SMA 2 7 and 110 from SMA Muhammadiyah PK Surakarta. The data collection methods are emotional maturity scale, social support, and self-adjustment. The data obtained were analyzed by multiple regression analysis with the help of SPSS. The results showed an R value of 0.746 with a significance level of 0.000, which indicates that there is a very significant correlation between emotional maturity, social support and self- adjustment in students affected by the zoning system. Meanwhile, the correlation between emotional maturity and self-adjustment shows an r value of 0.733, a significance level of 0.000, so it can be concluded that emotional maturity correlates with self-adjustment very significantly. The correlation between social support and self-adjustment of students affected by the zoning system is 0.421, a significance level of 0.000, which shows a very significant correlation between social support and self-adjustment. The effective contribution of the variable emotional maturity and social support for self-adjustment was 55.7%, thus there were 44.3% of other variables that also influenced the adjustment of students affected by the zoning system.
