Abstract

Garbage is one of the many problems that can damage the environment. The increasing use of plastic materials, but not being matched by the process of dealing with plastic waste, will cause social problems in the current era. In recent years research has been carried out to replace plastics with environmentally friendly plastics, but this is not the case and the reduction in the impact of plastics which are well known and non-biodegradable around the author's environment. Referring to a study that has been carried out in the form of making a plastic bottle chopper using electrical energy, this technology requires operational costs for the electricity used. Observing this, this study aims to design a plastic bottle chopper using a BLDC motor and solar power. Solar energy will be converted into electrical energy by solar panels. This research method is to design a plastic bottle chopper with a BLDC motor and solar power by providing 15 rotating blades and 2 fixed blades. Electrical energy from 4 solar panels with a panel capacity of 120 wp, then every two panels are arranged in a series and the series are connected in parallel so that the output voltage is greater than 24 V, which will then be stored by 2 batteries installed in series with a capacity of 12V per battery with a voltage that has not been entered. The stored electrical energy will be supplied by 24 V to the BLDC motor. The use of pulleys is expected to provide large rpm and high torque. The results of this study, the machine can work continuously and the machine can chop plastic bottles at a speed of ≥1000 rpm. The chopping machine can work optimally at a speed of ≤2500 rpm. Keywords: solar power, plastic bottles, bldc motors, counting machines, electrical energy.
