Abstract

Boyolali regency is a vulnerable area affected by the eruption of Mountapi Merapi, the condition explains that action is needed so that students understand that they live in a disaster area. The purpose of this study is 1) to know the spatial thinking ability of students in SMA N 1 Andong 2) to know the ability of learners to understand the disaster area in SMA N 1 Andong 3) to know the influence of spatial thinking ability on the ability of students in understanding disaster areas in SMA N 1 Andong. The method in this research used quantitative research. The sample from this study was students of class XII IPS SMA N 1 Andong with 58 students. Collection techniques in this study using Google Form. Data processing using simple linear regression analysis then the results of the processing are analyzed and described. Before the simple linear regression analysis test, the prerequisite test of the analysis is validity test, reliability test, normality test, homogeneity test and linearity test.The results showed that 1) spatial intelligence of students of SMAN 1 Andong: 0 students (0%) fall into the category of "high", 21 students (36,2%) in the category of "medium", 37 students (63,8%) fall into the "low" category, 2) understanding the disaster area of students of SMAN 1 Andong: 30 students(51,7%) fall into the "good" category, 18students (31,1%) fall into the "medium" category, 10students (17,2%) fall into the "low" category, 3) hypothetical testing with simple linear regression analysis shows that a significant value of 0.383 > 0.05 which means there is no significant influence of spatial intelligence on the understanding of the disaster area.
