Abstract

Curcuma mangga is an herbal plant from the Zingiberaceae family which is cultivated in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. The Curcuma species is a promising medicinal plant due to its large pharmacological impact. This review article aims to summarize and present the total phenolic content and pharmacological effects of the Curcuma mangga plant. The method used in this article is a literature review. National and international literature searches are carried out on the google scholar database with keywords ("Curcuma mangga") and (anti and effect). Based on the search results, 13 published articles that fit the criteria were determined to be used as a review in this review article. From the literature studied, it can be seen that the Curcuma mangga plant contains total phenolic compounds. Previous studies have also stated that the Curcuma mangga plant has good anticancer, immunostimulating, antibacterial and antidiabetic effects. Phenolic compounds such as curcumin and flavonoids are thought to play a role in the pharmacological effects of antioxidants, hepatoprotective, immunostimulant, antibacterial, antifungal and antidiabetic. Meanwhile, the anticancer, anti-tuberculosis and antiplasmodial activities may be caused by another class of compounds, namely the terpenoid group.
