Abstract

Seeing the growing and widespread factor of child crime, the legal punishment of children must be adjusted to existing social phenomena. Therefore, the stipulation of Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Criminal Justice System for Children is a legal breakthrough that is quite integrative and is intended so that children are not worse in mentally building after committing an act. criminal and hopefully will return to being a good person for his future. This research will focus on the procedure for the detention of children who have committed the crime of theft which is handled by the PPA Unit at the Sragen Police, with reference to Law no. 11 of 2012, although in practice the PPA Unit of the Sragen Police also experienced several obstacles in detaining children, starting from the detention time that was too short, the many children's family status was unclear, the community's poor stigmatization, so that Sragen itself did not have a Development Institution. Especially for Children (LPKA) or the Temporary Child Development Institution (LPAS) so that currently the detention of children is in the Class 2A Prison in Sragen Regency.
