Abstract

Friendly relationships between men and women do not always have a negative stigma, these relationships can have a positive impact if they have good quality relationships. The purpose of this study is to examine the correlation of trust and quality of friendship with the opposite sex. The subjects in this study were UMS students aged 18-21 years (late adolescents) who have friends of different gender, totaling 100 people. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. This type of research is quantitative, using a scale of trust and friendship quality scale as a means of collecting data. The data analysis technique used in this research is the product moment person correlation. The results of data analysis showed a correlation between trust and friendship quality of xy = 0.487, with p = 0.000 (p <0.01) which indicates that there is a significant positive relationship between trust and friendship quality. The higher the trust in a friendly relationship, the higher the quality of a friendly relationship.
