Abstract

The Qur'an has explained many problems of human ummah in the matter of tolerance. Surah Ali Imran 64, surah Yunus 99-100, surah Al-Kafirun 6, is one of the many Qur'anic verses that discuss the matter. The explanation of the Qur'an is certainly not easy to understand if there is no help by the mufasir in explaining it. The mufasir give a diverse interpretation of the verses of tolerance. Among the mufasir is the Indonesian mufasir figure, M. Quraysh Shihab. In this study will explain how the interpretation of M. Qurasih Shihab about the verse of tolerance. The purpose of this research is to find out the interpretation of M. Quraysh Shihab and the principle in tolerance. This type of research is literature research, using thematic interpretation approach. The primary source of this research is tafsir al-Mishbah book first printed in 2002 Vol 2, 6 and 15 by Lentera Hati Karya M. Quraish Shihab and assisted by books, research, and ilmiyah works related to the object of study as a secondary source. Technical data analysis in this study uses descriptive analysis. The conclusions can be drawn in this study are in interpreting surah Ali Imran verse 6, surahYunus verses 99-100 and surah Al-Kafirun verse 6, M. Quraysh Shihab using analytical or tahlily methods and drawing conclusions in each verse taken. Among other things: First, Recognize the existence of all religions that exist. Second, Do not force others to embrace the religion that we anut. Third, Promote toleration attitudes towards people of different religions.
