Abstract

Background: Knee osteoarthritis is a disorder affecting one or more knee joints, initially appears localized cartilage disorders and is progressive degenerative, occurs remodeling in subchondral bone and secondary inflammation of the synovial membrane. Purpose : To determine the difference in the effect of isometric exercises and concentric-eccentric combination exercises in reducing pain complaints in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Method: The method used in this study is the critical review method. Then data collection must meet predetermined inclusion criteria. Results: The provision of isometric exercise intervention with a frequency of 3 times a week for 3 months with every 30 minutes of exercise in a row experienced a reduction in pain and increased muscle strength and a combined concentric-eccentric training program with a frequency of 3 times a week for 2 months with a duration of 30 minutes has a significant effect in reducing pain and increasing muscle strength in cases of knee osteoarthritis. Both exercises have a significant result in reducing pain as well as increasing muscle strength. But one of the exercises suggests that the combined concentric-eccentric exercise has a more long-term effect on patients with knee osteoarthritis. Conclusion: The effect of isometric exercises and concentric-eccentric combination exercises on pain reduction in knee osteoarthritis patients. As well as the difference in the effect of isometric exercises and concentric-eccentric combination exercises on pain reduction in knee osteoarthritis patients.
