Abstract

In the era of digitalization, the food industry has many challenges and one of the main issues si about increasing the quality of production. One the most influential factor in improving this quality is the level of stability of the steam production process is a boiler. In the boiler system, a control device is needed that is able to maintain the stability of the water level. Therefore, a PLC (Programmable Logic Control) based control system is carried out as a control system that is able to collect data from sensors in the field and decide what action needs to be done on the actuator in the form of a control valve for water level stability. The use of PLC equiphment is expected to be able to control an maintain the stability of the water level in the drum. The state of the water level can affect the level of steam production to supply the turbine. Using three elements in the form of two sensors and one level adjuster as control parameters of the drum water level and the transmitter level sensor as an indicator of the water level in the boiler drum. Sensor that can produce an output signal in the form of a current of 4-20mA. The test results of this system, the water level can be maintained by managing the water entering the drum. So that the difference between the sensor readings in the drum and the PLC device is found, which shows the sensitivity level of the sensor value changes with the PLC device. In this rresearch, it shows that the difference value is at a value <10%. Keywords: Boiler, PLC, steam flow, water flow, adjuster, control valve.
