Abstract

One way to overcome water turbidity that occurs in the wells of Widororejo village RT 03 RW 01 Makamhaji, Sukoharjo is to improve the quality of water by using a simple and practical filter tool. This study aims to improve the water quality in Widororejo village, Makam Haji, Sukoharjo as well as to determine the impact of the simple and practical filter tool made by the researcher. The researcher creates two types of simple filters with different amounts of material composition, namely sand and charcoal. The method used in this study is by comparing the quality of water before and after filtering process using filter A and filter B. The parameters of water quality used as a comparison are turbidity, smell, and pH. The data of comparison obtained will be compared again with the water quality requirements in accordance with the Republic of Indonesia Minister of Health Regulation Number: 416 / MENKES / PER / IX / 1990. The results of the water obtained before filtering process are turbidity 49,9 turbidymeter, normal smell, and pH 6,16. The results obtained after filtering process with filter A are turbidity 4,43 turbidymeter, normal smell, and pH 7,14. Furthermore, the results obtained after filtering process with filter B where the amount of fine sand is higher than filter A are turbidity 2,38 turbidymeter, normal smell, pH 7,1. From these results, it can be stated that the simple and practical filter created has an impact in improving the quality of water especially the water in the wells of Widerorejo village, Makam Haji, Sukoharjo.
