Abstract

Sleman Regency is a hinterland area of Yogyakarta City, causing more and more people to live in Sleman Regency. The reduction in agricultural land area is due to the large number of changes in land functions from previously agricultural land to residential areas, malls, and shop houses (ruko) so it is necessary to know the Land Potential Index (IPL) for agriculture so that the use of existing agricultural land is in accordance with the land potential. This study aims to determine: (1) the distribution of the Land Potential Index in Sleman Regency, and (2) the distribution of directions for agricultural land use based on IPL in Sleman Regency. The method used is the scoring method with tiered quantitative scoring, overlay, and random sampling for sampling. The parameters composing the land potential index include supporting factors, namely slopes, lithology, soil types, and hydrology as well as limiting factors, namely disaster hazard. Parameters that have been graded are then overlaid and classified according to the classification. The results showed that the Land Potential Index (IPL) was the most dominant in Sleman Regency with an area of 31,525 hectares spread across almost all districts in Sleman Regency, namely Tempel, Sleman, Ngaglik, Mlati, Sayegan, Minggir, Depok, Kalasan, parts of Turi District. , part Pakem District, part Cangkringan District, part Prambanan District, part Berbah District, part Gamping District, part Godean District, and a small part Moyudan District. High Land Potential Index (IPL) has an area of 19,869 hectares. Low Land Potential Index (IPL) has an area of 3,201 hectares. The Land Potential Index (IPL) is very low with an area of 2,282 hectares, which is spread over parts of Pakem and Prambanan Districts.
