Abstract

In daily communication, people perform action by utterance. The actions performed by utterance is called speech act. There are five kinds of speech act. One of the classifications is expressive speech act. It is the kind of speech act that state about speaker feeling. Then the politeness use by the speaker depens on the contex of situation. This can influenced by condition and position. This study focuses on (1) classify the type of expressive speech act and (2) identify the type of politeness strategies found in conversation dialogue by the main characters in Fast & Furious Present: Hobbs and Shaw “2019” movie. This study is qualitative research. The technique of data collection are as follow: 1.Downloading the script of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” 2019 movie , 2.Reading the script of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” 2019 movie , 3.Coding , 4.Making the table,5. Classifying and encode the data.The data was analyzed by using expressive speech act and its politeness spoken by the main characters in the “Fast & Furious present : Hobbs & Shaw 2019” movie. The data source of the research are conversation dialogue by the main characters in Fast & Furious Present: Hobbs and Shaw “2019” movie. The method used by the researcher is the observation method. Analyzing the data using the linguistic form of expression pleasure by Searle (1976) and politeness strategy theory by Brown and Levinson (1987). The result of this researh shows that the conversation of the main charcters use agreement 36%, atittude 30%, thanking 12%, apologizing 10%, wishing 9%, greeting 3% Then, (2) the politeness strategy which found are positive politeness 55%, and negative politeness 45%. The conclusion, agreement and politeness are the most dominant type and strategy in conversation dialouge Fast & Furious Present: Hobbs and Shaw “2019” movie.
