Abstract

Parents are the main educators and caregivers for children, educating children properly and correctly to develop the totality of children’s potential naturally. This study aims to look at the relationship between children’s perceptions of authoritarian parenting and self-confidence in class students. The population of this research is all students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kudus students who can accommodate 350 students with a sample of 80 students taken from 5 classes. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The method used is a quantitative measuring instrument of the perceptual scale of parenting and self-confidence scale. Data analysis used Pearson’s product moment data analysis with freedom from (r2) 17.5% with significance (p) = 0.000 (p<0.001) meaning that there is a very significant positive relationship between perceptions of parenting styles with self-confidence in junior high school students Muhammadiyah 1 Kudus.
