Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the use of the @detjolomadue_official Instagram account as a media for online promotion of Karanganyar tourism. This type of research is a type of qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The object of this research is the @detjolomadue_official account. The population of this study were followers, account owners, and members involved in the @detjolomadue_official account. Data collection methods are interviews via WhattsAp Chat, Video Call, and Direct Message (DM) to the @detjolomadue_official account manager and document analysis (literature study). The results showed that De Tjolomadoe's managers had taken steps in promotional activities by utilizing features on Instagram such as titles or captions, likes, hashtags, and mentions. In an effort to increase visitor interest and based on data obtained by researchers in the field through observation, interviews and documentation, in this case Instagram social media is quite effective as a promotional medium.
