Abstract

Character education is very important to be considered in raising and strengthening Indonesian people's awareness that the future generation of the nation must be pursued by building and strengthening character education. The government has tried hard to improve character education and even rolled out a number of programs to support the development, improvement and strengthening of character education, but in reality there are still many obstacles to implementation that need to be discussed together, namely with the family, because character education is first obtained from the family, with the environment, because the environment is very important, even though the family teaches character education, but the environment does not support it is certain that character education fails, then the national curriculum is repeatedly revised. From these obstacles there needs to be assistance to students so that character education can be realized as expected. In this study, researchers used a psychological approach to describe the optimization of mentoring-based character education at MTs Muhammadiyah Blimbing and Wustho Ulul Albab Islamic Boarding Schools obtained from direct observation and interviews. Broadly speaking, the two Madrasas have an education system that aims to shape the character of their students with several aspects such as spiritual or religious, such as memorizing the Qur'an which in its base teaches the mandate, diligent worship, intellectual, morality. The habits used by the two madrassas are in the context of forming the character of the students which is reflected in the rules of conduct that are held in both madrassas. A very important aspect is the moral aspects of students, while in education students are formed into pious people, and have the soul of a leader obtained from organizational learning while in Madrasahs. Besides that, the education system as well as the cheated system that is applied in daily life in the Asarama environment will shape the behavior of students into human beings who are good at socializing and understanding each other during their stay in MTs Muhammadiyah Blimbing (cottage based) and at Pondok Pesantren Wustho Level.
