Abstract

This research aims to (1). Identify the pragmalinguistics forms of expressive utterances found in “Indonesia in the Changing World: A Conversations with President Joko Widodo of Indonesia” and (2). Describe the intentions of expressive utterances found in “Indonesia in the Changing World: A Conversations with President Joko Widodo of Indonesia". this research used descriptive qualitative and used theory by Leech (1983) to analyze the pragmalinguistics forms of expressive utterances and used theory by Searle (1996) to analyze the intentions of expressive utterances. The findings of this research show that there are 3 pragmalinguistics forms of expressive utterances the first rank to be the highest frequence to occur is the forms of statements, of imperative, and the form of intterogative respectively. The researcher also found 8 the intentions of expressive utterances, they are ranked respectively such as intention of thanking, wishing, of greeting, of attitude, of support, exclamation, of congratulation, and the intention of lamentation.
