Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) Knowing the implementation of reinforcement character education through the Adiwiyata school movement at SMAN 3 Surakarta. (2) Knowing the obstacles in the implementation of strengthening character education through the Adiwiyata movement at SMA N 3 Surakarta. (3) Knowing the inner solution overcome obstacles to the implementation of strengthening character education through movements Adiwiyata at SMA N 3 Surakarta. This study uses a qualitative method ethnography. Collecting data through interviews and documentation. The sources of this research are the principal, vice principal, teacher, and students. The results showed that the implementation of strengthening education character is done through the crystallization of character values, namely religious, nationalism, independence, integrity, and mutual cooperation. Adiwiyata school implementation implemented using four components, namely: (1) School policy environmentally friendly: vision, mission, and goals are insightful and caring environment, (2) Implementation of environment-based curriculum: all learning integrated with Adiwiyata program, (3) Environment-based activities participatory: school members carry out activities, steps, and programs Adiwiyata, namely class pickets, clean and healthy Fridays, there is a working group every time classes with different themes, (4) Friendly supporting facilities management environment: adequate facilities are maintained and utilized by school residents well, rules are made, for students who violate are given sanctions. Adiwiyata barrier is the existence of school members who are not involved in activities Adiwiyata. The solutions taken is to establish rules and regulations and impose sanctions, then the teacher becomes an example in Adiwiyata activities.
