Abstract

Living as a housewife with HIV / AIDS cannot be separated from physical, social and psychological barriers. Physical barriers are reflected in a decrease in the body's natural defense system, psychological barriers are related to community discrimination against PLWHA, while psychological barriers are caused by one of them is anxiety about death. The profession as a housewife has a complex role in the family. Therefore, the ability of resilience is needed to achieve psychological well-being and physical health. The purpose of this study was to determine the resilience of housewives infected with HIV / AIDS and the factors that affect the resilience of housewives infected with HIV / AIDS. This research was conducted using the phenomenological method with six respondents as housewives with HIV / AIDS. The results of this study were six respondents who were infected with HIV / AIDS from their husbands and free sex behavior had achieved resilience with their respective life experiences. Not only rise from the difficulties experienced but also achieve productivity and achieve positive aspects of life experiences that have been passed. The first stage in the resilience process in this study is the stress stage that occurs when the respondent finds out about HIV / AIDS status. The next stage is the stage of self-reconstruction which goes hand in hand with the strengthening stage. Then the last one is the resilient stage. The factors that influence the resilience process in this study are risk factors and protective factors. Both of these factors have internal and external sources.
