Abstract

The effect of the budget deficit on macroeconomic variables is highly dependent on the deficit financing mechanism used. Almost all budget deficit financing mechanisms will affect economic growth. This study aims to determine and analyze national income, inflation, foreign debt and interest rates on deficit spending in Indonesia for the 1990-2018 period. The dependent variable is deficit spending, and the independent variable is national income, inflation, foreign debt, and the interest rate. The research method used in this study is the Partial Adjustment Model (PAM) regression. The type of data used in this study is time series secondary data with a time series of 28 years, 1990-2018. Data obtained from the World Development Indicators and APBN Data Portal. Deficit spending which affects the interest rate which has a significant effect on the Indonesian state, while the variables of national income, inflation, and foreign debt do not have a significant effect on deficit spending in Indonesia for the 1990-2018 period.
