Abstract

Dance is a work that has the right to legal protection. Of the many dances in Indonesia, one of them is the Kethek Ogleng Dance. This study aims to determine the legal protection of the traditional dance of Kethek Ogleng Pacitan and the role of the community and the government in preserving the Kethek Ogleng dance. This research method uses an empirical juridical approach. Data sources consist of primary data, namely interviews, while secondary data, namely primary and secondary sources of law. Methods of data collection using literature study and interviews, data analysis used is a qualitative approach. From the results of this study, it is found that the copyright protection of Kethek Ogleng Dance is regulated in Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright. Seeing from the reality in society the role of the community and the regional government of Pacitan Regency in the preservation of the Kethek Ogleng Dance can be said to be quite good even though this is still not optimal.
