Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) The effect of learning achievement on the interest in continuing to study at higher education in class XII students of SMK Wijaya Kusuma in the 2019/2020 school year. (2) The effect of parental support on the interest in continuing to study at higher education in class XII students of SMK Wijaya Kusuma in the 2019/2020 academic year. (3) The effect of learning achievement and parental support together on the interest in continuing to study at higher education in class XII students of SMK Wijaya Kusuma for the 2019/2020 school year. This type of research is quantitative with a survey design. The population in this study were 54 students of class XII SMK Wijaya Kusuma Academic Year 2019/2020, with a using saturated sample techniques. This research data collection technique using a questionnaire with validity test and reliability test. The prerequisite analysis technique consists of the Normality Test, the Linearity Test, the Multicolonierity Test, and the Heteroscedasticity Test. Data analysis used multiple linear regression techniques including t-test, F-test, R2 test, Effective Contribution, and Relative Contribution. Based on the results of data analysis, the multiple linear regression equation shows Y = 67.415 + 0.660 X1 + 0.364 X2. This equation shows that learning achievement and parental support affect students' interest in continuing their studies at university. The conclusions that can be drawn are: (1) There is a positive and significant effect of learning achievement on the interest in continuing to study at higher education, as evidenced by the t-count value is greater than the t-table value, namely 2.116> 2, 007 and the smaller significance value is 0.039 <0.05. (2) There is a positive and significant effect of parental support on the interest in continuing to study at higher education, as evidenced by the t-count value is greater than the t-table value, namely 4,112> 2,007 and the smaller significance value is 0,000 <0.05. (3) There is a positive and significant influence jointly between learning achievement and parental support on the interest in continuing to study at higher education as evidenced by the value of Fcount is greater than Ftable, namely 9.710> 3.18 and the significance value is smaller, namely 0.000 <0.05. The learning achievement variable provides an Effective Contribution of 4.7% and a Relative Contribution of 17%. Parental support variables provide an Effective Contribution of 22.9% and the remaining 83% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study.
