Abstract

The amount of agricultural waste that is underutilized and plastic waste that is just thrown away becomes one of the factors of widespread environmental pollution. Even though if you can use it well, agricultural waste and plastic waste can be of economic value. This research aims to make a biodegradable plastic finished product that is waterproof and environmentally friendly. Products made from agricultural waste are coconut coir with HDPE plastic mixture into a product in the form of chair footwear. In making this product that is coir fiber must be made into powder with a mesh of 100, then mixed with HDPE plastic ore by extrusion method and printed using a plastic injection machine with temperatures 180 ℃. By comparison of the heavy fraction of coconut coir fiber powder and HDPE plastic that is 5% : 95%; 10% : 90% and 15% : 85%. From the results of this study it can be concluded that a mixture of coconut fiber and HDPE plastic can be made into a biodegradable plastic product in the form of waterproof and environmentally friendly chair footwear. And has good resistance to hot weather and biodegradation. With the best biodegradable shrinkage in the composite variation of 0% coconut coir fiber with a shrinkage of 0,01 grams. While the best air absorption in the composite variation of 0% coconut coir fiber with a proportion value of 0,193%.
