Abstract

In Indonesia, coal fuel is still used as the majority of energy sources for electricity generation. Coal cannot be renewed, therefore it is necessary to use renewable energy sources. Indonesia most of its territory is the ocean. Thus, sea waves can be used as electricity generation. Waveform oscillating water column power plant is the right choice because it has many advantages namely easier distribution and maintenance. The research object is in the southern waters of Java because it has good and constant waves. Sea wave height data was obtained from the Climatology and Geophysics Meteorology Agency with objects at 4 points: Banten, Cilacap, Yogyakarta and Banyuwangi. Based on the results of calculation analysis, the smallest potential power that can be generated is 210,332 Watt in February and March in Banten. Whereas the biggest potential power that can be generated is 2,373,665 Watt in June and July in Yogyakarta. Overall, the biggest power that can be generated at 4 points in July is Banten at 937,561 Watt, Cilacap at 1,059,187 Watt, Yogyakarta at 2,373,665 Watt and Banyuwangi at 1,329,671 Watt.
