Abstract

The purpose in this study is to improve the learning activities of grade VIII B students at Junior high school of Muhammadiyah 1 Simpon Surakarta through the use of learning methods of Students Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD). In this study, grade VIII B students as recipients of actions and teachers of Social Science as action giver. The methods of data collection used are interviews, observations, field notes, and documentation. Technical data analysis used is a comparative analysis technique. The results showed student learning activities after using the Students Teams Achievements Divisions (STAD) learning model which includes student enthusiasm in learning, student interaction with teachers, interaction between students, group cooperation, student activities in group discussions, student effort in learning, student participation in concluding learning, showed students experienced a large improvement in the learning process activities.
