Abstract

Generation Z is the loneliest generation from the previous generation. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between self-concept conflict and social interaction with loneliness in the Z gene. The subjects in this study were the Z gene with an age range of 18-24 years at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS). The sampling technique in this study was random sampling. This study uses a quantitative approach with data collection tools using the loneliness scale, the self-concept scale, and the social interaction scale. The data analysis used is multiple regression analysis using the SPSS application. The results of the data analysis show a significant level of 0.000 <0.05, which means that there is a very significant relationship between self-concept and social interaction variables with loneliness so that the researcher's major hypothesis is proven. While the minor research hypothesis is the correlation between self-concept and loneliness with the results of data analysis (r) = -0.565 and Sig (1-tailed) 0.000 <0.05, which indicates that there is a significant negative relationship between self-concept and loneliness. The correlation between social interaction and loneliness with the results of data analysis (r) = -0.709 and Sig (1-tailed) 0.000> 0.05, which indicates that there is a significant negative relationship between social interactions and loneliness. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it was concluded that there was a significant relationship between self-concept and social interaction with loneliness in the Z gene.
