Abstract

ABSTRACT This research discusses the inculcation of religious character through the habituation of reading Al-Qur'an at SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu. This study is motivated by a lack of character that tends to be negative, along with the times and technology. Seeing such conditions, efforts are needed to instill a religious character in students. This research is to answer the following problems: 1) How is the process of cultivating religious characters through reading the Al-Qur'an at SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu in the 2019/2020 academic year and what are the supporting and inhibiting factors for cultivating Religious character through reading the Al-Qur'an at SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu in the 2019/2020 school year. This research is a qualitative research, taking place at SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu. In data collection, the authors conducted a field study using data collection methods such as observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by inductive method, namely departing from the theory that had been built, then linked to real data in the field. Based on the results of the research, the authors concluded that the process of cultivating religious character through reading the Al-Quran at SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu was carried out using four methods, namely, exemplary methods, guidance and refraction, rewad and punishment, advice and reprimands. As for the time in cultivating religious characters through reading the Al-Qur'an at SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu, namely refraction before learning and assignments at home. Supporting and inhibiting factors for planting religious characters through reading the Al-Qur'an at SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu in the 2019/2020 academic year. Factors that support and inhibit students' religious character cultivation include: 1) awareness factors in students, and 2) family factors. These factors become supporters and obstacles in cultivating students' religious character through reading the Al-Qur'an at SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu.
