Abstract

Speaking is a communication way with some purposes. The aim of speaking is to express people’s idea, to praise someone or something, or to break people’s heart. Breaking people’s heart is called hate speech. It can be insulting, insinuating, or mocking to someone who gets the negative effect. The aim of this research is to describe the type of hate speech and to clarify the intention of the hate utterance. This research is qualitative research. The research object is the hate speech by the social media user addresses to Prince Charles and Camilla Parker. The data source is the comments by the social media user in the visual tabloid on social media. The data is the the comments that contain hate speech by the social media user. The techniques of data analysis in this research are used Mondal et al theory (2017) in describing the type of hate speech and Kreidrel Theory (2002) in clarifying the intention of the hate utterance. The results of this research are (1) there are eight types of hate speech from the highest range to the lowest range, such as behavior, gender, physical, class, disability, religion, race, and ethnicity. (2) There are five intentions by the social media user from the highest range to the lowest range, such as mocking, insulting, insinuating, accusing, and blaming.
