Abstract

Traditional markets are public places whose activities involve the interaction of many people and play an important role in the economy of a region in meeting community needs. Therefore, sanitation sanitation and the presence of vectors, pests and nuisance animals need to be considered. This study aims to describe sanitation and the existence of vectors, pests and pests in the traditional markets of Surakarta. This type of research used in this research is descriptive observational with a cross sectional approach. The number of samples in this study were 5 markets which were taken using purposive sampling technique. Observations were made in 4 booths, namely meat booths, vegetables, fish and groceries, with each booth being carried out at 3 observation points. This research was conducted from December 2019 to February 2020 at Nongko Market, Sangkrah Market, Harjodaksino Market, Gede Market and Sidodadi Market. The variables studied in this study were sanitation which included the provision of clean water, showers and toilets, waste management, hand washing, drainage, quality of food and foodstuffs, disinfection based on Kepmenkes RI No. 519 / Menkes / SK / VI / 2008 Regarding Healthy Market Guidelines and the existence of vectors, pests and nuisance animals which include rat density, cockroach density and fly density based on Permenkes RI No. 50 of 2017 concerning Environmental Health Quality Standards and Health Requirements for Vector and Animals Carrying Diseases and Their Control. The results showed that there were three markets with a good sanitation condition, namely Sangkrah Market with a score of 1990, Pasar Nongko with a score of 1950 and Pasar Sidodadi with a score of 2010. Sidodadi Market had a high rat density with a count of 1.2, Harjodaksino Market and Pasar Gede had a density of cockroaches. height with a count of 1.75 and 1.18. Nongko Market, Sangkrah Market, Gede Market and Sidodadi Market have high fly densities with counts of 6.56, 18.2, 8.32, and 19.4. The factor that affects the density of vectors, pests and nuisance animals is the availability of food sources.
