Abstract

This research was conducted to describe about the impact of the presence of modern markets on income, number of consumers, inventory of traditional market merchandise both before and after. This research was conducted by field research and using a qualitative descriptive approach, namely interviews with 11 (eleven) traditional market traders, the samples of research were taken by using the snowball sampling technique. The validity of the data in this study using triangulation of sources. Data analysis techniques using interactive models, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that (1) there were changes in income, number of consumers, and varied merchandise inventory, decreases experienced by groceries, grocery, bread, clothing, fruit, and furniture merchants. Increased experienced by traders of groceries, bread, grocery, meat. Traders who are not affected by income, number of consumers, and merchandise inventory experienced by vegetable and accessories traders. Traders selling in the market experienced a decline. Meanwhile, the traders who have experienced an increase and are not affected are those who sell on the edge of the market which is opposite the main road.
