Abstract

The compounds found in plants can be used as the manufacture of natural larvicides. Avocado leaves and bitter melon fruit have compounds that are effective in making natural larvicides. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of avocado leaf extract and the bitter melon fruit extract as larvasides against the mortality of Aedes aegypt larva. This method of research is experimental with a complete randomized draft (RAL) of two factors. The first factor is an extract comparison (P1 = avocado leaf extract: bitter melon fruit (25%: 75%), P2 = avocado leaf extract: bitter melon fruit (50%: 50%), P3 = avocado leaf extract: bitter melon fruit (75%: 25%) And the second factor is the combination of ethanol solvent (E1 = Ethanol 60%, E2 = Ethanol 70%). Observation Data was analyzed using the crucial test of Wallis followed by Probit test to prove LC50. According to research the results were obtained that the most effective combination of killing larvae is at a comparison of P1: E1 with an average of the crucial test-level of Wallis 9.88 and the LC50 value of 1189,54 ppm (0,119%).. It can be concluded that is avocado leaves and bitter melon fruit contains compounds that can turn off larvae. Compounds in the bitter melon fruit are more influential when compared to avocado leaves.
