Abstract

Environmental care behaviour is still in a low rate among students in today’s era. Adiwiyata program that has been carried out has not been able to fully guarantee the formation of environmental care behaviour of school residents. Therefore, the purpose of this study are 1) Describe the implementation of the Adiwiyata program in the effort to form the eco-literacy and character of environmental care attitudes in SD Negeri Banyuagung 1; 2) Describe the process of developing the Adiwiyata program in an effort to establish character of environmental care attitudes in SD Negeri Banyuagung 1; 3) Describe what are the obstacles in the implementation of the Adiwiyata program in SD Negeri Banyuagung 1; 4) Describe the solution given by the school in the effort to form the eco-literacy and foster the character of environmental care. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques, that is observation, interviews, and documentation. To analyze data, researches use descriptive technical analysis that is inductive. To test the creativity of the data, the researchers used triangulation techniques and triangulation source. The results of the study stated that: 1) School are still developing in implementing the adiwiyata program; 2) The school has several programs that are designed to shape the character of children to care for the environment; 3) Schools still have obstacles in the implementation of the adiwiyata program, that is, not all students can carry out their obligations, students are not familiar with the new policy; 4) Schools try to make solutions to solve the obstacles, that is, teachers make lesson plans that contain environmental themes, familiarize students with reading, and work on school management.
