Abstract

This writing aims to provide an understanding of the legal protection and legal awareness of leather craftsmen for brands in the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Leather Craft in Masin Village, Batang Regency. This study uses an empirical juridical approach method where the main data source is primary data in the form of interviews and legal documents. It also uses secondary data which is then analyzed qualitatively and produces descriptive data. From this research, the results show that by looking at the legal awareness of the leather craftsmen in Masin Village compared to the legal awareness theory, the leather craftsmen in Masin Village have not understood and are aware of the importance of brand protection. The form of legal protection against based on Law Number 20 Year 2016 concerning Trademarks and Geographical Indications shows that there are 2 types of protection namely preventive and repressive protection.
