Abstract

One of the power plants in Indonesia is the Steam Gas Power Plant (PLTGU). The power plant plays an important role in the distribution of electricity to consumers, so that in the distribution of electricity it is expected that the power plant can provide electricity continuously and in a reliable condition. The activity of generating electricity continuously and reliably requires a protection system in preventing the occurrence of disturbances at the plant. A good protection system will prevent unwanted losses, one of the main equipment of the power plant is the generator. Generator is a device that can produce electricity from the conversion of mechanical energy into electrical energy. There is one part of the generator, the winding. The winding section is also one of the causes of generator damage, so to protect the damage a generator protection system is installed, namely a differential relay. This relay serves to protect the generator due to damage caused by windings such as inter-phase short circuit or short-circuit between phase and ground short circuit. This research activity aims to calculate three phase short circuit current, single phase short circuit current to the ground and calculate the differential relay settings on the generator. The mathematical calculation results obtained single-phase short circuit current to the ground of 20679.295152 A and three-phase short circuit current of 48316.3365 A. The calculation results of setting a differential relay obtained a value of 0.37 A. When the relay detects the current exceeds the adjustment value, then The relay will work and instruct the breaker to disconnect the power.
