Abstract

This study aims to (1) develop a senior high school level disaster mitigation pocket book, and (2) find out the feasibility of a senior high level disaster mitigation pocket book. This study used the Borg and Gall (1989) development research model that was modified by Sukmadinata (2011) with three stages: (1) a preliminary study, (2) development, and (3) Testing. The stages in this research were restricted to the development stage. The study was conducted in six schools namely SMA N 1 Klaten, SMA N 2 Klaten, SMA N 1 Karanganom, SMK N 1 Klaten, SMK N 1 Trucuk, and SMK N 1 Tulung. The data collection technique used data collection technique used was a need questionnaire of students and teachers of the developed pocket book and an assessment questionnaire that aimed to assess the feasibility of the product being developed, the final evaluation criteria for quantitative data in this study refered to the formula for converting quantitative data to qualitative data with 5 scale stated by Anas Sudijono (2009). The results of the study indicate the product pocket book that used specifications of the disaster mitigation pocket book consist of a) Pocket Book using 12cm x 8cm paper, with 54 pages, with covers and back page describe the contents of the book. b) The results of the pocket book assessment, based on the analysis of questionnaire that filled by the teacher and the students it was known that the development of the disaster mitigation pocket book final grade by 4.4 with very feasible category in the initial field trials and got final grade by 4.55 with very feasible category in the trial main field. The final score results of the study was 4.55 with a very decent category on all aspects of assessment so that it can be used by teachers and students in extracurricular activities.
