Abstract

The novel is one of the literary works in the form of writing in which tells the life of a character with those around him by highlighting the character and nature of each actor in the story being told. This study aims to describe: 1) the structure that builds the novel Pulang by Tere Liye; 2) inner conflict of the main character Pulang's work by Tere Liye in terms of literary psychology; and 3) the relevance of the results of this study with Indonesian for high school students. The research approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. This study uses a content analysis research design. The object of this study is the inner conflict in the novel Pulang by Tere Liye and the relevance of the results of this study to Indonesian material for high school students. The data used is a discourse that shows the inner conflict of the main character in the novel Tere Liye's Pulang and the relevance of the results of this study with Indonesian material for high school students. The data used are primary data sources. The primary data source in this study is the novel of Pulang by Tere Liye, published by Republika Publisher, Jakarta, 2019. Data collection techniques in this study are listening and note taking. The technique used in data analysis is the semiotic method with heuristic reading and hermeneutic or retroactive reading methods. The application of the inner conflict analysis of the main character in the novel Pulang by Tere Liye is in accordance with the literature review method. The results show that: 1) Tere Liye's Pulang Home novel is about the struggle of a man who maintains the glory of the Tong Family. Story line consists of characterizations, plot, and setting. The main character in the novel is Bujang. The flow of the novel is a mixed plot that starts from the stage of adjustment, the appearance of conflict, increased conflict, climax and problem solving stage. The setting of places contained in this novel is in Talang, Macau, Manila, Hong Kong and the Capital City, while the time setting occurred twenty years ago and now; 2) The inner conflicts contained in the novel Pulang by Tere Liye are: a) the approaching conflict, that is when Liye is when Bujang is accepted at the Capital City University. Tauke Besar was so happy that he would give whatever gift that Bujang asked for. However, Bujang asked to be assigned together at another time. b) Conflicts that flare up occur after hunting in the jungles of Sumatra and save Tauke from giant debt pigs. Bujang was brought to the city by Tauke, but he could not hug the father like Tauke did and c) the conflict kept away when Bujang was asked to shoot Salonga's head, but Bujang did not, even though all the Great Tauke's sentences were orders. 3) Relevance between Pulang's work by Tere Liye and Indonesian language teaching materials in high schools, namely the Competency Standards (SK) and Basic Competencies (KD) 3.9 and 4.9 in Indonesian language classes XII even semester.
