Abstract

Karanganyar is an area with a high risk of landslides. One of the disaster-prone villages is Plosorejo.this village is located between two hills, Darawati and Krisna, so the community needs to have the capacity and strategy to encounter risk of landslides. The purpose of this research are (1) analyzing the level of community capacity in dealing with landslides (2) analyzing the level of coping strategies of the community in economic, technological, sosial, and cultural aspects. The method used in this research is a survey using a proportional area sampling technique using slovin formula in the areas most at risk, namely Banaran Hamlet, Bono Hamlet, and Plosorejo Hamlet. Data collecting methods using a questionnaires, observations and documentations. This research was applied scoring analysis, community capacity level welding scores are low (0-9), moderate (10-17), and high (18-25) while the community coping strategies welding score are not good (<12,5) and good (≥ 12,5) and descriptive analysis. The result of this research indicate that the level of capacity of the Plosorejo Village community in dealing with landslides there are two classes, i.e., high and medium capacity levels. Plosorejo Village have the highest level of capacity (19,4), while Banaran and Bono have medium capacity levels (17,8 and 17,5). Furthermore, the level of coping strategies of Plosorejo Village community is good. Banaran have a score of 14,9; Bono have a score of 18,3; and Plosorejo hav a score of 19,3. A good level of capacity and coping strategies can reduce the risk of disaster in the area, because the community has the ability to take actions related to prevention, reduction, preparation and response to emergency and recovery.
