Abstract

This study about the use of deixis in writing news texts written by students of class VIII that aims (1) Describe the types of deixis in students 'written news texts, (2) Describe the use of deixis in students' written news texts. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data source in this study is the news text of the eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta. Data collection techniques in this research were observation, assignment and analysis of document contents. The data analysis technique used is the method of sharing with the dressing technique. The results of this study are (1) the types of deixis found in the news text written by students of class VIII of SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta (a) person deixis in the form of a single third person deixis, (b) place deixis or locational in the form of a place far from the speaker , places adjacent to the speaker, and places that designate explicitly, (c) time or temporal deixis in the 2 form of current time deixis, past time deixis, future time deixis, and neutral time deixis, (d) social deixis. (2) the use of deixis contained in news texts written by students of class VIII of SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta is (a) person deixis in the form of third persona single deixis: as a result, (b) deixis place or locational in the form of a place far from the speaker: that, the place adjacent to the speaker: this, and the place that points explicitly: Bogor, (c) time or temporal deixis in the form of current time deixis: time, past time deixis: then;, future time deixis: will, and deixis neutral time: 1:00 p.m., (d) social deixis: Camat.
