Abstract

This research study discusses about payung lukis Juwiring handicraft which is a local product and has the potential to obtain legal protection from geographical indications. The research method used is an empirical juridical method that is descriptive with the support of primary and secondary data by collecting data through library studies and field studies (interviews). Based on the results of this study, payung lukis Juwiring craft has fulfilled the qualifications of the elements and criteria to obtain legal protection for geographical indications in Indonesia. From this research, the result is the lack of knowledge of the craftsmen regarding the legal protection of intellectual property rights of geographical indications so that the craftsmen of handicrafts have not yet registered.
