Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the learning patterns of students who work part-time; (2) inhibiting factors and learning solutions for students who work part-time. This research is a qualitative research with ethnographic research design. This research was conducted in the field, namely in the Teaching and Education Faculty of the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta, especially in the class of 2016. Data sources were obtained from primary data from interviews with informants: students who worked and students who did not work. Data collection techniques using interviews, and documentation.Data analysis techniques using qualitative analysis with an interactive model consisting of data reduction, verification, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that: (1) learning patterns applied by students who work part-time are independent learning patterns, 3 reasons that lead to choosing independent learning patterns are more able to manage time, more calm and focused in learning, and flexible; (2) inhibiting factors for students who work are difficulties in the division of time between study and work, health, and fatigue. The solution applied by students to overcome these obstacles is trying to manage time as possible, always take advantage of free time, and maintain a healthy body by consuming immune-enhancing vitamins.
