Abstract

Stroke is a non-communicable disease that causes death in Indonesia. Stroke is a neurological disease that attacks sunddenly that occurs due to a blockage or rupture of blood vessels in the brain. Stroke can affect the decrease in lung capacity FVC and FEV1 due to weakness of respiratory muscles which cayses limitation of motion in patient after stroke. Respiratory Muscle Training (RMT) can increase the lung capacity of patients after a stroke. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of RMT on lung capacity improvement in patient after stroke. The method in this study is an experimenteal study with a Preetest-Posttest Design approach. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The number of samples 4 people. In this study using the Wilcoxon test was obtained significant p = 0,068 where p value <0,05. The conclusion of this study is that there is no effect to giving RMT to the increase in lung capacity of patientd after stroke.
