Abstract

The research is aimed to reveal how reveal how a need for love and belongingness is reflected in Sex and the City directed by Michael Patrick King published in 2008. The objectives of the study are to analyze the structural elements in the movie and to analyze the needs for love and belongingness based on a humanistic psychological approach. The object of the study is a movie Sex and the City directed by Michael Patrick King. The researcher employs the descriptive qualitative research as a type of the research. The data sources are divided into two, namely primary data source and secondary data sources. The primary data source is the events of the movie and script of Sex and the City Movie and the secondary data sources are information related to the primary data source, website, and book on humanistic approach. The method of collecting data is observation and library review. The method of analyzing data is descriptive technique. The results of the study are as follows. First, based on the structural analysis, Michael Patfick King delivers a moral message that every woman needs love and belongingness and the structural elements are related each other and form a unity. Second, based on the humanistic psychological analysis, Michael Patrick King reflects that every human has motivations to fulfill all of hierarchy in human life by Abraham Maslow.
