Abstract

The purpose of this research are to describe the implementation of the PBL model in learning mathematics in Linear Equation System of Two Variables (LESTV) material in grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura and analyze the implementation encountered in its implementation. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research and the subjects are teachers and grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. This study uses triangulation techniques to study the validity of research data. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion collection. The results showed that: (1) PBL implementation in SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura is divided into two aspects, namely learning planning and learning implementation. The RPP component of LESTV material made by mathematics teachers is guided by and is in accordance with Permendikbud No. 22 of 2016 although the learning objectives only contain A (Audience) and B (Behavior) lesson plans made by the teacher using a scientific approach, PBL models, and discussion methods, as well as the learning steps contain five PBL syntaxes. The implementation of learning conducted by the teacher is carried out according to the lesson plan although there are some obstacles in implementing it, and (2) the obstacle encountered by the teacher in implementing the PBL model is the teacher must compile lesson plans that can condition students to be more active, students are not familiar with the PBL model, the teacher must make learning come alive and active, and the teacher is not maximized in managing learning time.
