Abstract

Solow growth model states that economic growth depends on the development of factors of production, including capital. The quality of labor depends on adequate infrastructure. Therefore infrastructure is important as a driver of economic growth. However, infrastructure in East Java is considered inadequate due to slow its growth. Inadequate infrastructure can hamper economic growth in East Java. This study aims to analyze the effect of economic and social infrastructure in East Java in 2014-2018. The data used are GDP and Infrastructure (clean water, electricity, roads, education, and health) in 38 districts / cities in East Java in 2014-2018. The analytical tool used in this study is panel data regression. The results of this study indicate that the variables clean water, electricity, education, and health have a significant and positive influence on GDP in East Java, although not elastic. Meanwhile, road has no effect on GDP in East Java. Policy recommendations that can be taken are prioritizing road improvements in order to launch economic activities, and to improve other infrastructure so that economic stability can be better maintained.
