Abstract

Middle School Students (SMP) is a transition from childhood to adolescence. At that time children are very vulnerable to juvenile delinquency, because at this time children are still unstable in determining which are negative and which are positive or which are good and which are bad. This makes the child act according to his will and sometimes it is difficult for children to adjust to their social environment. The purpose of this study was to determine and describe how the emotional regulation of students in dealing with the transition from elementary to junior high school / MTs (in Mts Negeri 1 Surakarta. This study used qualitative research. The selection of informants was chosen by purposive sampling. The number of informants used for research These are 10 grade VII students at MTs N 1 Surakarta The data collection method in this study uses the interview method.The results of this study indicate that the emotions experienced by informants include feelings of pleasure, shame, fear, sadness and tension during the student orientation period. large informants have knowledge of emotions, but most are also easily influenced by negative emotions.4 from the research informants showed a good attitude in controlling the emotions felt and have a good acceptance of emotional responses.
